One of the most important things you can do when drawing in general is giving objects texture. Texture can be achieved in many ways when drawing or paint such as using different objects to get different texture. Like using your finger or a blending stump to help make your colors appear smoother or help give it depth with shading.
However when doing art digitally you don’t have that option to use different things, you only have your stylus or pen. However this is easily solved with brushes in the software you use to draw. This can be very help full to give object more texture. For example, you could go from a smooth drawing of leaf to one that looks a bit more hand drawn.
When drawing there are many kinds of techniques you can use from to bring your drawing to life. One of the most common types used for still life is line direction. Line direction can be used to help get the shape of an object without having to have a thick outline around it. This also can help out with shading and object as well. The types of lines you use can also help convey a story in a drawing as well. Horizontal lines help convey a feeling of rest or peace, while curved lines help convey energy.
A great example of this is are garden fountains. They loom very tranquil with the bases showing Space with how wide they are. However they also show energy with the water flowing and not having a defined shape.
While its the start of a journey the first couple of posts probably will end up like the first couple drawings in a sketchbook. While they are important, they will probably end up being forgotten by the end.
